****** NickServ v1.0a by IRC-InC ******
Note: This document was written in notepad while maximized. Please open
this under notepad and maximize the window. Thanks.
Introduction
We all know that good old NickServ on DALnet, correct? Good. Maybe you
wanted to get your hands on it, but couldn't get it because they didn't
release it. Or maybe somebody leaked it from DALnet, but you don't have a
shell. Or maybe even somebody wrote their own NickServ (I know somebody;
go to http://www.inlink.com/~jfb11), but STILL you didn't have a shell. You
have Windows 95 or NT 4.0. Well, your NickServ is here! This new NickServ
is different from the other NickServ's for mIRC. How? Well, this one is
more LIKE the actual NickServ on DALnet. Most others don't include any
type of GHOST command to kill a ghost, but we have put one in here. This
also includes a small addon for any script for mIRC that you can put on
your mIRC window, and you can administer NickServ from there (no matter
WHAT server your on; it uses DDE). To use this, though, you MUST run
your own server (it is compatible with any Windows IRC Server Software,
such as Conference Room (http://www.webmaster.com) and wIRC). It runs
on 32-bit mIRC, but you can POSSIBLY use 16-bit with some adjustments made.
Please, do not take anything out of this script without asking! We
will be releasing a ChanServ and MemoServ also, soon.
Setup
To set this up, basicaly unzip the nksrv10a.zip file (which you have
already done obviously) and put the 4 files (readme.txt, finger.txt,
admin.ini and mirc.ini) in an empty directory. Next, put mirc32.exe (you
don't need to put any more of mIRC's files in the directory) into the one
you put NickServ into. MUST be either mIRC v4.52 or higher!
Now, just run mirc32.exe. It will read off of the
mirc.ini we provided you with (so don't change the file name). Now, just
have it connect to your server that you ADMINISTER. Next, put an /oper code
in this PERFORM options so that it can be an IRC operator (if you have
other servers linked to yours, make it a global operator). Now, your all
set! Just type /msg NickServ HELP and it will help you. DO NOT and I repeat
DO NOT tamper with anything else! Also, if you can, I'd consider running
another Conference Room or wIRC server on a different port so it can
have it's own server. Now, just add the stuff under ADMIN.INI to your
CHANNEL popups and STATUS popups for easy administration.
Remember: It needs GLOBAL IRC OP Status and your
OWN server to run!
Credits
